The format

About PDF and Word

PDF is a presentation format designed to look identical on any device, which is why editing it directly is painful. Word (DOCX) is the opposite — a structured, editable document format used across business, education and government. Converting PDF to Word unlocks the content so you can revise, translate or repurpose it. Most online tools do this on their servers, meaning your private document is uploaded, processed, logged and sometimes retained. Our converter runs the entire pipeline inside your browser using WebAssembly, so the file never leaves your machine. That makes it suitable even for sensitive documents like NDAs, offer letters, tax forms and medical records.

The questions

Frequently asked

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your PDF never leaves your device, which is especially useful for contracts, resumes and financial documents.

Will formatting be preserved?

Text content and page breaks are preserved — this converter is optimised for recovering editable text. Headings, tables, columns and inline images are not currently preserved; richer formatting is on our roadmap.

Can I convert scanned PDFs?

Scanned PDFs need OCR, which we are adding in a future release. For now, text-based PDFs convert cleanly.

Is there a file size or page limit?

You can convert PDFs up to 100 MB with no page limit. Larger files are supported in our upcoming Pro tier.

Is this really free?

Yes. Core single-file conversion is free forever — no watermark, no signup, no daily cap.

What browsers are supported?

The latest versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. Older browsers lack the WebAssembly features we rely on.
