The format

About PNG and WebP

PNG is a lossless format with alpha transparency — great for UI, logos and screenshots, but often huge in file size. WebP keeps the alpha transparency while applying modern compression, which typically shrinks files by 50-80%. That makes it the ideal upgrade for anyone shipping transparent images: logos, icons, UI screenshots, product cutouts. Our converter runs entirely in your browser via Canvas, so nothing is uploaded. Transparency is preserved because we deliberately do not flatten the alpha channel to white, unlike every PNG-to-JPG converter.

The questions

Frequently asked

Will transparency be preserved?

Yes. Unlike JPG, WebP supports alpha transparency, so logos, icons and screenshots with transparent backgrounds convert cleanly.

How much smaller will the file be?

Typically 50-80% smaller. Photos usually see the biggest savings; graphics with lots of flat colour already compress well as PNG, so savings there are smaller.

Will my logo or UI screenshot lose quality?

At default (90%) quality, the difference is imperceptible. For logos and UI where every pixel matters, you can set quality to 100 in Options for near-lossless output.

Where will the WebP work?

Chrome, Safari 14+, Firefox, Edge, modern Android, iOS 14+, WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, and most other modern tools. Legacy software like Photoshop CS6 doesn't support it.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The browser handles the entire conversion locally — your files never leave your device.

Can I convert many PNGs at once?

Yes. Drop as many as you like. Each is processed locally and bundled into a .zip when there are multiple.
